About

The GAMMA research group was formed in 1995 and conducts research in the design and implementation of algebraic, geometric and scientific algorithms, and their applications to computer graphics, robotics, virtual environments, CAD/CAM, acoustics, pedestrian dynamics and medical simulation. In Spring 2018, GAMMA relocated to the University of Maryland, College Park, and is housed in the new Brendan Iribe Center for Computer Science and Engineering.

In addition to publishing papers at the leading venues, GAMMA has a long history of developing software packages and transitioning technology into industrial products, with more than 60 licenses to major corporations. A spinoff on sound simulation, Impulsonic, was acquired by Valve in 2017. GAMMA’s alumni includes more than 90 B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. students.
